I’m troubled by today.
Today there have been numerous posts across the Worldwide Web about SOPA and PIPA. What once seemed so farfetched to me is slowly becoming a reality. For the past year, the greed and deceit of politicians, yes, people representing OUR government, which represents OUR country, has gotten so out of hand that I can’t help but be utterly disgusted. How did the politician become a lie? And how have these lies swallowed and reconstructed our government into their own thrown? These people are paid to do things without reading the fine print and the public takes the blow of these repercussions.
I’m tired of having politicians represent what “the people” want. How can a politician go up and call him/her-self a representative of society when they don’t even take the time to get to know who they are actually representing? Electing representatives might be the easiest way to make decisions, but even these grown adults struggle with coming to agreements for the benefit of “the people”. The government has become a competitive game, where each politician fights for what they want, rather than taking in the interest of the public.
I am the only representation of myself. No one knows what I believe in for the betterment of society more than I do. People might not agree with my ideas, and the government might not listen, but that’s just fine with me. Once I leave this country, I will no longer be associated with the American politician. I’ll go someplace where “sharing” isn’t illegal (didn’t they teach us to share in preschool?) and where marriage has no limits. I’ll go somewhere that considers education a priority, funds schools appropriately, and doesn’t allow its states to ban ethnic studies in schools.
I’m fed up with our dissipating freedom. Maybe you can sign some documents and pass some laws, but you can NEVER take away the freedom I was born with.
