The real reason why I don’t like to live with people I don’t know.
One summer, when I was of an elementary school age, I went away to St. Mary’s basketball camp for a week. The camp wasn’t that far from home, but both of my parents worked full time and enrolled me as an overnight camper so that they wouldn’t have to worry about picking me up every day.
The first day consisted of going over the daily routine and touring across the school grounds. After that, once we had all finished settling in, it was “lights out”. My roommate and I crawled into our respective beds before we were immersed in total darkness.
As I stared at the ceiling, I could hear my roommate moving about in her bed, and then, complete silence. I closed my eyes and rolled over onto my side. When I opened my eyes, I could see my roommate staring at me from her bed. Her eyes were the only things I could see through the darkness, and they weren’t blinking. Then, without a single ounce of emotion in her voice or on her face, she broke the silence by saying: “I’m going to kill you.”
Without a word, I got out of bed, walked out the door, and called my parents from a payphone. I told them I needed to come home because I was homesick and my roommate was “mean”. I never told them what she said.
I ended up getting transferred to another room. The other girls at camp made fun of me for the rest of the week because I wanted to go home, but no one ever knew the real reason why.
This is why I don’t like rooming blind or moving in with people I don’t know.
The end.

That is TERRIFYING. I don’t like living with people I don’t know either. It’s only worked out once for me so far. XD
